Way to Go Darcy!!!

I am a big Buffalo Sabres Fan. I have enjoyed the past year watching, this young team that many said were playing way over their heads. I guess being one period away from playing for the Stanley Cup Finals, means very little.
Well the Sabres as many of you know tied the league record for most consecutive wins from the start of the seaon. Despite a losing record for the month of January, The Blue and Gold have the best record in the NHL, and are fighting the Anaheim Ducks for the President's Cup awarded for the best record league-wide.

Tuesday, marked the last day for trading this season. The Big question for Sabres fans was would Darcy Regier make a move to improve the team? Even being up against the Salary Cap due to numerious injuries over the last two weeks? Well before the 3:00 PM deadline We got the answer. The Sabres, who up until yesterday had not make a single trade, put all their chips on the table. Four trades were made in a matter of hours proved the the Sabres General Manager was going to do what it took to take this team to the Stanley Cup Finals.

The Sabres traded Martin Biron to Philadelphia for a second round pick. It would seem that the team should have gotten more, but the team could not afford to put another salary into their budget. With the salary of Biron gone the Sabres were able to go out and acquire Dainius Zubrus from Washington for Jiri Novotny. Hopefully this trade along with the other two that were made can help the Blue and Gold over the top. Hopefully there is a big victory parade in the future for this team, and this town.
